Finding Inspiration in Every Turn
Founded in 2012, Snowden Black Educators of Boston (originally established under a different name) emerged from a shared commitment among Black staff members to support one another and advocate for the needs of Black students within our school's community. At its inception, it was a small group of approximately five members. It was formed in response to the rapidly decreasing number of Black students at Snowden, as well as the need for a support network for Black educators and staff. From its inception, the group aimed to foster a sense of community, promote culturally responsive teaching, and address the unique challenges faced by Black educators and students. Over the years, the organization has grown both in membership and influence. Under the umbrella of the Black Educators of Boston, several specialized teams have been established to advance the organization’s mission and serve the community in diverse ways:
